Alto Reed has long been the saxophonist with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. Two acknowledged sax classics are Old Time Rock and Roll and Turn the Page.
Old Time Rock and Roll does excactly what it says on the can - it's a rocked up rock and roll number. The alto sax solo is short and comes about 1:58' into the track but it's important because Old Time Rock and Roll is a famous track. It first appeared on the album Stranger in Town (1978) but rapidly became Bob Seger's signature track and was chosen as one of the Songs of the [20th] Century by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has since featured as a downloadable track for the popular Guitar Hero game and has been covered by bands including Status Quo (see below for comparison to the Bob Seger version), which of course being Quo is performed entirely on guitars and doesn't feature the sax solo.
It was also used in a (in)famous scene in the early Tom Cruise movie, Risky Buiness.
