Just the Way you Are

Phil Woods / Billy Joel - Just the Way you Are

Richie Cannata plays sax on most of the early Billy Joel Albums, including 1977's The Stranger but Phils Woods stood in specially to play alto sax on Just the Way You Are.  Phil Woods is also responsible for the great sax solo on the Steely Dan track, Dr Wu.

For me one of the keys to great music is an immaculate sense of timing.  For me that's why this track stood out as one of the greatest sax solos you can vote for.  And even if I am sat down, I start to sway as I listen to it.

The other great sax solo on the Stranger is Scenes from an Italian Restaurant played by Billy Joel's regular saxophonist, Richie Canatta.
